Good Riddance - Apr 12, 2008
When I woke up this morning, I heard this song had been singing inside my head until I arrived at school. This is a amazing song indeed.
Green Day - Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)
Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test, and don’t ask why
It’s not a question, but a lesson learned in timeIt’s something unpredictable, but in the end it’s right.
I hope you had the time of your life.So take the photographs, and still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial
For what it’s worth it was worth all the whileIt’s something unpredictable, but in the end it’s right.
I hope you had the time of your life. It’s something unpredictable, but in the end it’s right.
I hope you had the time of your life. It’s something unpredictable, but in the end it’s right.
I hope you had the time of your life.
BC: Just don’t ask me how I feel - Jun 18, 2008
I joined the Pop Music Club last afternoon again from 5:30 to 6:30. I’ve never heard about the songs that the DJ played using Youtube. One is Luka (By Suzanne Vega), and the other one is Can’t Fight This Feeling (By REO Speedwagon).
Luka’s biggest hit was the #3 in the USA in 1987. Suzanne Vega was born in California grew up in a dangerous neighborhood in New York City. She began to write poems at age 9. She is going to give us a concert in Singapore this Saturday! I fall in love with this song when I heard the first tune, you can image what’s the life like of the boy even though the lyric is simple and short.
Luka - Suzanne Vega
My name is Luka
I live on the second floor
I live upstairs from you
Yes I think you’ve seen me before
If you hear something late at night
Some kind of trouble, some kind of fight
Just don’t ask me what it was
Just don’t ask me what it was
Just don’t ask me what it wasI think it’s because I’m clumsy
I try not to talk too loud
Maybe it’s because I’m crazy
I try not to act too proud
They only hit until you cry
And after that you don’t ask why
You just don’t argue anymore
You just don’t argue anymore
You just don’t argue anymoreYes I think I’m okay
I walked into the door again
Well, if you ask that’s what I’ll say
And it’s not your business anyway
I guess I’d like to be alone
With nothing broken, nothing thrown
Just don’t ask me how I am
Just don’t ask me how I am
Just don’t ask me how I amMy name is Luka
I live on the second floor
I live upstairs from you
Yes I think you’ve seen me before
If you hear something late at night
Some kind of trouble, some kind of fight
Just don’t ask me what it was
Just don’t ask me what it was
Just don’t ask me what it wasI think it’s because I’m clumsy
I try not to talk too loud
Maybe it’s because I’m crazy
I try not to act too proud
They only hit until you cry
And after that you don’t ask why
You just don’t argue anymore
You just don’t argue anymore
You just don’t argue anymore
One student recommended the Can’t Fight This Feeling last week. DJ told us this is a “Gold Oldie”, that means it’s still very popular despite how old it is. It was the number 1 in the USA in 1985.

I went to Rick’s house last night at 9 p.m. It’s not far away from British Council, I saw the chinese embassy while I came to the Tanglin road. Rick lives in a apartment which is in Tanglin View community, the environment there is beautiful. He has a big apartment and a maid who live in the apartment too. He share a computer company which focus on both software and hardware with his friend, according to the conversation. We just have some talk to get us know each other better and watched a movie then I have to come back to my hostel. AC gave me a call to check where I was, I want to tell him my appreciation. It’s late, enjoy the music and see ya.
BC: Pop Music Club - Jan 10, 2008
Aiven wrote a email advised that I should write down everything what happen in every single day in Singapore. Well, I can make it but in that case I’ll be a very busy man for surfing the internet. You might have already know that I have no idea to organize my time here, it seems that time past quickly here and I got nothing while I decided to go to bed.
Upon the class, what had happened in these days? Many things I want to share with you but that will be a hard job for my level right now. Well, why not just let us move on. I had met a boy who is my boss’s nephew and his name is Yang Kun in the evening of Jan 7th. He was some kind of acting as a representative for my boss. He took some fruit, milk, cookies etc for me, and give me some useful advices for living in Singapore. Thanks a lot.
And after a week waiting, I finally got my Student Pass yesterday, unfortunately, the British Council is not belong to the Singapore Government, so I can’t use this Student Pass for the student bus card which would be more cheaper than I have right now. I can use this Student Pass to apply a bank account. In my plan, I will go to the POSB bank for the deposit account tomorrow morning, this bank is highly recommended by Greanty.
I don’t want to talk about my normal class in British Council now because I need to go bed as soon as possible, I think it’s better to sleep early and get up early in the morning. Beside the normal class, British Council also have some base-interesting class like the Pop Music Club, Oral Class etc, these kind of class only may have one or two lessons per week. And I joined the Pop Music Club this evening after the normal class in the afternoon. Douglas, our DJ in the club also a teacher of course, showed us two songs both in original and the remake. Surprisingly, I had heard those songs for hundreds time before, did you? Have you heard about “Eternal Flame” and “Truly, Madly, Deeply”? I’m sure you do. “Eternal Flame” was the song sang by The Bangles in 1989, it was the top 1 in six countries. It was re-made by Atomic Kitten in 2001. As for “Truly, Madly, Deeply”, I like almost every songs come from Savage Garden, this song was re-made by Cascada in 2006. I like the original than the remake, because there’re songs about love, so if you change the rhythm to the rock type, I would wonder that’s not the meaning of love. The songs about love, I think there should be in a classic and slowly rhythm so can feel the same emotions as normal lovers. So, that’s it, I need to have a bath and review some vocabulary later. For God’s sake, I have to use the Lingoes to remind me how to type ‘vocabulary’.
