一大早醒来发现浑身乏力，正好借此机会拿一天无薪假期，不能做拼命三郎啊，再拼命就成死郎了。上帝啊，请原谅您这懒惰的子民吧。当请假的短信给approved以后，发现浑身充满了精力，因此不辞万里坐公交车13分钟到淡滨尼图书馆逛逛，然后办了一张借书证。这个证年费不是一般的贵呀，新加坡大搞区域歧视，外国人要40多，再加上首次登记费，飚升到50多，刷卡的时候心里滴下了第一滴血。

在不大的借书区里面逛的时候，满脑子都是50多的字幕，一不做二不休，根据农民的朴素思想，借的越多那么翻本的可能性也就越大，于是一口气拿了6本书，幸亏办卡的时候图书馆提供了一个简易书袋：

《厕所大不同》

这是第一本抓到手里就要借的书，之前看到几个博客推荐过妹尾河童的书，而且这个标题也很好晚，更好玩的是内容真的是多各个不同家庭的厕所布局、装修要点、色彩搭配etc, etc。这是台湾版，字都是列着从上到下，也是一个挑战。

《旅行的艺术》
艾伦.狄波顿 Alain de Botton/著 廖月娟/译
好像在那里看过介绍，不记得了。“这部书就像一场完美的旅程，教我们如何好奇、思考及观察，让我们重新对生命充满热情。”又想起那个超牛的广告，人生就想一场旅途，在乎的不是目的地，而是沿途看风景的心情。Wow，现在的人还要教着怎么去好奇，啧啧。

《听南怀瑾讲论语》
张保文 许庆元/著
就冲着南怀瑾这个名字去的。不过我奇怪的是既然是听他说论语，为什么作者不是他呀。

《沉沦的菩提 - 苏曼殊全传》
王长元/著
这本出版于十三年前的书让我对书的纸质很感兴趣，人毕竟是怀旧的。

在浏览VOA的邮件列表中时不经意发现一条关于Randy Pausch的新闻，其实是给标题中的“最后一堂讲座”给吸引住。前天(July 25, 2008)他因胰腺癌并发症去世，早在2006年他已经知道自己时日不多。一个人的乐观精神是天生还是后天培养的？

… … But, you know, it certainly would have been reasonable for me to leave 48 hours after that sabbatical, but it wouldn’t have been the right thing to do, and when you do the right thing, good stuff has a way of happening.

Get a feedback loop and listen to it. Your feedback loop can be this dorky spreadsheet thing I did, or it can just be one great man who tells you what you need to hear. The hard part is the listening to it.

Anybody can get chewed out. It’s the rare person who says, oh my god, you were right. As opposed to, no wait, the real reason is… We’ve all heard that. When people give you feedback, cherish it and use it.

Show gratitude. When I got tenure I took all of my research team down to Disneyworld for a week. And one of the other professors at Virginia said, how can you do that? I said these people just
busted their ass and got me the best job in the world for life. How could I not do that?

Don’t complain. Just work harder. [shows slide of Jackie Robinson, the first black major league
baseball player] That’s a picture of Jackie Robinson. It was in his contract not to complain, even
when the fans spit on him.

Be good at something, it makes you valuable.

Work hard. I got tenure a year early as Steve mentioned. Junior faculty members used to say to me, wow, you got tenure early. What’s your secret? I said, it’s pretty simple. Call my any Friday night in my office at ten o’clock and I’ll tell you.

Find the best in everybody. One of the things that Jon Snoddy as I said told me, is that you might have to wait a long time, sometimes years, but people will show you their good side. Just keep waiting no matter how long it takes. No one is all evil. Everybody has a good side, just keep waiting, it will come out.

And be prepared. Luck is truly where preparation meets opportunity.

So today’s talk was about my childhood dreams, enabling the dreams of others, and some lessons
learned. But did you figure out the head fake? [dramatic pause] It’s not about how to achieve your
dreams. It’s about how to lead your life. If you lead your life the right way, the karma will take care
of itself. The dreams will come to you.

Have you figured out the second head fake? The talk’s not for you, it’s for my kids. Thank you all,

在Magaret的邮件中得知巴哈伊中心被选为世界文化遗产之一，巴哈伊网站的标题为Baha’i shrines chosen as World Heritage sites。

The Shrine of the Bab on the northern slope of Mount Carmel in Haifa, Israel, is one of the Baha’i sites named to the World Heritage list. A famous landmark in Haifa, it attracts a half million visitors a year.

The Shrine of Baha’u’llah near Acre, north of Haifa – the holiest spot on earth for members of the Baha’i Faith – also is part of the World Heritage designation.

各地的巴哈伊要去海法的巴哈伊中心朝圣的话需要申请。一般分成两种申请，一种是9天，比较完全，整个地方朝拜完，在新加坡申请的话需要等待2到5年；第二种为期3天，只是外围观看一下，比较核心的比如正义院、图书馆等不能进去，但这种申请一般随时都会被批准。

距离上次的I’m back整整半年了，随着熬晕的临近，据说风声越来越紧，本blog所在的IP地址不幸成为牺牲品，那支红杏出墙太多，再也不能翻回去。在江东大哥的耐心指导和英明领导下，很容易的将空间转移到Dreamhost上来，晚安，在床上的全世界华人。

这次被挡在墙外，有可能是刚刚f- -k着抱怨了一下，但其实不过是巧合而已。巴哈伊精神中有一个很重要的环节是磋商，但是如何去真诚的对待人，然后就算是热脸贴冷屁股也是保持一个牛皮般的脸型，确实是一个很大的难题。
