English language - Mar 10, 2008
昨天跟Melic说我在这里对方向感一点都没有是因为在客家话里面一般去市区都是“上”的方向词在前面，而现在我住的地方去乌节路其实在地图上是往下走，因此就弄混了，另外一个这里道路方向在左跟国内相反也是一个因素。刚才收到他的一封邮件，就在下面。另外前天还有一封主题是storytime的邮件，我还没有开始看呢：http://www.fln.vcu.edu/struwwel/bubeng.html。之所以这么快将这个内容贴出来是因为可以在my dame room上网了，不过不知道是不是临时的，刚才只是check了一下，竟然有一个可以连上（update: 事实证明，只高兴了一会，正奸商）。OK，废话不说先，请enjoy：

Let’s face it - English is a crazy language. There is no egg in eggplant, nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple. English muffins weren’t invented in England or French fries in France . Sweetmeats are candies while sweetbreads, which aren’t sweet, are meat. We take English for granted. But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.

National Emblem of the People’s Republic of China
第十一届政治协商会议 (the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, CPPCC) 已经在这个星期一（3月3日）开幕，全国2千多名政协代表将在北京参加为期11天的会议。3月5日，十一届全国人大 (the National People’s Congress) 一次会议开幕，温家宝作政府工作报告说今年CPI控制在4.8%以内。近来在各个渠道略微看到关于两会的消息，特别昨晚在跑步的时候听到BBC放了一小段温家宝关于CPI的讲话才意识到重要的两会已经开始了。至于为什么是重要的，我想我们亲爱的党举行的会议都是很重要的缘故吧。
昨天是Extra Free Class的最后一天，很幸运，没有超过空课的底线因此拿回了课程开始的预存款。很是抱歉，没有记下第二批老师的名单，只能在下面以图片代替了。也祝贺Melic拿到证书。另外，新的免费课程也开始报名了，但是不知道要在BC呆多久就不参和了，一般来说，再去参加还是有益处的。Ricky从韩国回来后就直接跳一级还是跟我同班，因为Academic 1没有空位，从这里看出BC的分级制度是乱来的呀。现在感觉到课程好像用处不大了，可能还的在平时多下功夫。Feb 28日是Petra的生日，Zerlinda送了一个小小的蛋糕，很有意义。而且Petra的新婚丈夫送了一张写满甜言蜜语的贺卡给她，超赞耶，虽然我看不懂匈牙利文。Jan春节回来后只在上part time的speaking lessons，一个星期两节课，据她说每天都去学跳舞，伦巴、恰恰还有华尔兹，一段时候可能还会有证书拿呢，感觉她是越活越有精神了。Lisa，我的韩国新同学，嗯，怎么介绍她呢，well, generally speaking, er, let me see, 这个课程开始以来我俩都坐在一块，I’m very enjoying the time with her。当然在Foundation 6同学的印尼餐馆聚会上就认识她了。Andy，来自香港的同学，恭喜他通过了新加坡sunrise学校的面试，两年后将会产生一个厨师，很佩服他能够按照自己的兴趣来重新选择一个方向。他的一绝是能够将短信写成信那样的长度，可怜我的blackberry 7290要运行一段时间才能够将信息全部显示出来。Fitri，现在在准备8号的雅思考试，然后应该会申请新加坡的某间大学吧，今天给我一个小册子，名称是“你知道关于圣灵的。。。”（忘了名称了，有时间将摘抄一下段出来）。May the force be with her. Yang Kun, my boss’s nephew, 谢谢他的关心，哈。在没有下来这里联上网的时候，感觉有很多要说的一样，但是发现那只是感觉而已。天晚了，该睡觉了。

狮城日志：parties - Mar 04, 2008
Last Thursday and Friday I joined two parties at the local friend’s house. That were all large house. On Thursday, there was a birthday party, the husband is from India and the wife is from Malaysia, and the house is near Sambarwang. There was a ‘giving day for the children’ on Friday. The couple, Mehrdad and Mojgan, is from Australia, they were very nice, the house is near C.K.Tang building, Orchard Road. At the end of the party, their youngest daughter had sang two songs with playing her guitar (Hey Jude and Imagine), and then a guest played the Hotel California with guitar too.
Melic and Lalitha brought me to those parties and I have a very good time with them. Thanks a lot. Although I still need time to improve my speaking English, Melic help me a lot by taking me to his friend’s parties. I can meet a lot of people from different countries and they’re all very nice.

Mas Selamat bin Kastari
卡斯塔里是在２月２７逃脱的，他的左腿跛了。昨天看到报纸上说他还没有逃出新加坡，不过传闻他已经游到马来西亚或印尼去了。这张照片是在hostel墙上拍下来的，在公车的下车门窗上，在各个公共场所都有这样的告示，据说张贴了４万５千多张。能从新加坡的看守所里面逃脱真不简单。
在一名恐怖组织头目嫌疑人从新加坡一所拘留中心逃脱后，国际刑警组织在全球范围内发出了紧急警示。总部设在法国的国际刑警组织星期五应新加坡的要求在网站上发出了针对马士.沙拉末.卡斯塔里的警示。卡斯塔里星期三从新加坡的一个拘留中心逃脱。逃跑前，他被人从牢房带到一个接待室，等待与探视的家庭成员见面。他获准上卫生间，然后从那里逃跑。
卡斯塔里被怀疑是恐怖组织伊斯兰祈祷团在新加坡的头目。2006年，卡斯塔里在印度尼西亚被捕，后来被移交给新加坡当局。他被怀疑策划在新加坡发动恐怖袭击，包括劫持一架飞机，然后撞击新加坡樟宜机场的目标。
